Boyd Burton, MBA, CM&AA
Boyd is an experienced investor having invested in and/or advised on more than 150 projects in companies and projects in multiple industries over the last 35+ years.
Previous to Speedwell, he was a venture partner in a boutique private equity firm, a senior director of a multi-billion dollar capital markets group, a managing director of an investment banking firm and a partner in healthcare development firm. He has founded several companies and has served as a senior executive of companies on three continents.
He previously served as a Board Member of the Ecuador/American Chamber of Commerce, was an advisor to the Bolivian Secretary to the UN, creating entrepreneurial opportunities for former coca field workers and participated in the East/West German reunification process following the fall of communism.
Boyd received his BBA in investment finance through the University of Texas system, earned a Masters in International Business and received an MBA from the University of Houston. He has served on multiple Boards of Directors and advisory boards of the companies / projects in which he has invested.
He is an AM&AA member and is a Certified Mergers & Acquisitions Advisor. He currently holds a Texas real estate license and has previously held Series 3, 7 & 63 licenses as well as a property & casualty insurance license (during graduate school when he provided risk management consulting services to law firms and CPA firms). He also currently serves as a co-investor and Entrepreneur-in-Residence of a middle-market private equity firm.
A former runner, he remains passionate about hiking and traveling to unique destinations and experiencing other cultures.
